Location & Character

Rheingönheim is the southernmost district of Ludwigshafen and marks the transition to the open countryside of the Vorderpfalz. The well-preserved old village core with its church and half-timbered houses gives the district a village feel. Surrounded by woods and meadows, Rheingönheim seems green and tranquil, yet it is well connected to the rest of the city via the traffic arteries.

The best-known destination is the Rheingönheim Wildlife Park, where wild boar, deer, lynx and other native animals live in near-natural enclosures — a popular spot for families. Directly adjoining, the Melm woodland invites you to walk and cycle. Together, the wildlife park and the woods form an extensive green recreation area in the south of the city.
